From now on, if necessary and/or desired, we can pack all our machines, devices, and equipment on ISPM 15-certified wood.
What does ISPM 15 mean?
ISPM 15 is an international standard for phytosanitary measures issued by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC). According to the applicable regulations, wooden packaging materials intended for international trade must undergo treatment, which may include heat treatment, for example. In addition, marking with a special conformity mark is required to effectively prevent the spread of harmful organisms such as wood pests.
Who needs ISPM 15-approved packaging?
Countries that implement the ISPM 15 standard require the treatment and labeling of wooden packaging to prevent the transport of pests. These include many countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, China, India, and many more in Africa, Asia, America, and Europe.
Exceptions:
In summary, it should be noted that when using wooden packaging for export to a country outside the EU, there is one mandatory requirement: the wooden packaging must have undergone ISPM 15 treatment and labeling, unless the destination country is expressly exempt.
